Here’s a Seminary Lesson Plan you can use tomorrow that blends family, community, and technology in action with gospel principles — keeping it structured but flexible so you can adjust on the spot.

Seminary Lesson Plan — “From Family to Community: Serving Through Technology”

Date: [Tomorrow’s Date]
Length: 50–60 minutes
Theme Scripture: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet… and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers.” — Malachi 4:5–6

1. Opening (5 min)

  • Hymn: Because I Have Been Given Much (Hymns #219)
  • Opening Prayer: Invite a student.
  • Welcome & Thought Starter: Share the statement: “Education begins at home. Community begins at home. Technology should serve both.”
Ask: What do you think this means for you as a disciple of Jesus Christ?

2. Scripture Connection (15 min)

a. Read Together:

  • Mosiah 18:8–9 — “Stand as witnesses of God… in all places that ye may be in.”
  • Doctrine & Covenants 88:118 — “Seek learning, even by study and also by faith.”

b. Discussion Questions:

  1. How does family prepare us to serve in the community?
  2. How can technology help us “stand as witnesses” today?
  3. What happens when technology is not guided by gospel values?

3. Object Lesson — “The Living Network” (10 min)

  • Bring three items: a small plant (family), a larger potted plant (community), and a battery-powered grow light (technology).
  • Explain:
    • The small plant = Family. Needs roots and care.
    • The bigger plant = Community. Built from many families together.
    • The light = Technology. It can help both plants grow — but without care and proper use, it can also burn them.
  • Takeaway: We decide how to use the “light” of technology to strengthen, not weaken, our spiritual roots.

4. Group Activity — “Community in Action, Technology in Action” (15 min)

  • Divide into small groups.
  • Give each group a short challenge: Plan a way to use technology this week to bless someone outside your home.
    • Examples:
      • Share a scripture on social media with a personal testimony.
      • Help a neighbor with a digital task.
      • Record a family history story to share online.
  • Have each group present their plan to the class.

5. Closing Scripture & Challenge (5 min)

  • Read Matthew 5:14–16“Ye are the light of the world.”
  • Challenge: Do one act of “community in action” this week using technology righteously. Share your experience in class next time.

Closing Hymn: Let Us All Press On (Hymns #243)
Closing Prayer: Invite a student.

If you’d like, I can also make you a printable one-page handout for the students with the scriptures, object lesson diagram, and the weekly challenge.
Do you want me to make that for tomorrow’s class?
