My Life Timeline: 16 to 30
1994, 16: Got my driver’s license—finally free to do what I want. One foot in Arizona, one hand shutting the door in Utah. Closed door in Utah, open road ahead.
1995, 17: Testing the edges of freedom—driving backroads and highways, discovering which turns belong to me.
1996, 18: Turned eighteen—grown on paper, but still learning what it means to have a voice and make my own choices.
1997, 19: Learned it was easier to be a sole-parent, to defend my life every day from someone who says “I love you,” but brings only pain. Chose myself and stood alone, but stronger.
1998, 20: Met the love of my life. The world felt open again—safe enough to hope.
1999, 21: Been there, done that—most of that bar scene behind me. Realized there’s not much there for a soul who wants more.
2000, 22: Still searching for myself. Sometimes lost, sometimes found—wandering, learning, growing.
2001, 23: Picking up the pieces. Learning to trust myself, even when the path is uncertain.
2002, 24: Independence deepens. Still one foot in Arizona, that door in Utah long closed—this place, this self, becoming home.
2003, 25: Learning my life is truly mine to shape—sole-owner, writing my own story.
2004, 26: Found a quiet strength. Realized I don’t have to shout to be heard; strength can be silent.
2005, 27: Learning to open up to happiness again, letting some light in, trusting new beginnings.
2006, 28: Found myself—maybe still unfinished, but at peace with who I am and where I’ve been.
2007, 29: Life comes full circle. Found myself with him again, the love of my life. Second chances, old love, new beginnings—sometimes the heart knows before the mind can catch up.
2008, 30: We had our second first born a child of our own—my sole-owned, sole-parented gift to the world became ours. CK KIRTON-NINER: the only parents, the only Guardians of our Children of God.
For the first time, I understood what it means to build a life, not just survive one.
