Dear Eternal Family,

There is something I need you to know — not whispered, not hidden, but spoken clearly so that no more generations have to carry what I carried in silence.

When I was a child, I was abused by a member of our own family.

It began when I was four years old and continued until I was nine. I spent years trying to understand what happened to me. Even when the actions stopped, the impact continued — through my teen years, through my twenties — until I began to truly heal in my early thirties.

A healing that originally began because I spoke up.

I Was the One Who Said It Had to Stop

No one else in the family said it.
No one else drew the line.
But I did.

I was the one who said, “This ends now.”

I took the first step toward accountability — not just for myself, but for every innocent person in our family line, past and future. I said what others wouldn’t. And yes, it changed everything. But it also began everything that needed to happen for healing to be possible.

Why I’m Sharing This Now

Because truth is part of eternity.

If we say we are an eternal family — sealed together, covenanted, united — then we must also be a family that tells the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.

We cannot build Zion by covering up what breaks us.

What I’m Doing With That Truth: DoesThisHelp®

I created DoesThisHelp.com, Creeker.site, and the Black Mountain Creekerhood Chronicles not as projects, but as living records — places where truth can be preserved, where survivors can speak, and where silence no longer rules.

This is not just personal.
This is generational.

This is what it looks like when someone finally stands up and says:

“I will not let this happen again. Not to mine. Not on my watch.”

To My Children and Grandchildren

You will never wonder where I stood.
You will never question if your mother or grandmother was strong enough to speak the truth.
You will grow up knowing that silence was not your inheritance —
truth is.

You are the reason I broke the pattern.
You are the reason I wrote it down.
You are the reason I keep building.

To All of You Who Didn’t Know — and to Those Who Did

I’m not here for blame.
I’m here for accountability.

If you didn’t know, now you do.

If you knew but said nothing, I forgive you. But I will not be silent to make others comfortable.

I am at peace because I stood up.
I am still standing because I told the truth.

This is part of our family history now.
Let it be known with clarity, compassion, and courage.

With love and unwavering resolve,
Shimmer
