🗣️ Youth Speaker: The Power of Small Choices
Today we are gathered under the theme of choice and accountability, and I have felt led to speak on how the smallest decisions we make — especially in the quiet corners of our homes, our kitchens, and our minds — are shaping the lives we live and the people we are becoming.
When I was young, I found myself curious about many things — science, cooking, life, and even the things people told me I shouldn’t touch yet. Some things I only learned because I tasted them, literally and spiritually. And while I don’t carry shame for learning, I do carry wisdom, and I know now that there is a difference between doing something just because I can, and doing something because I understand it.
The brain is still developing until around age 25. That means even when our bodies appear ready — there are parts of us still forming. That’s not weakness. That’s sacred.
That’s why I believe in not just saying no, but saying K-N-O-W.
We know our worth.
We know our body is sacred.
We know our minds are worth protecting.
And we know that God gave us agency not to test us, but to trust us.
“Wherefore, men are free… to choose liberty and eternal life, or to choose captivity and death.” – 2 Nephi 2:27
Let your small choices reflect the greatness you were born for. Accountability is not punishment — it’s proof that we’re becoming.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
🗣️ Main Speaker: Agency and the Plan of Salvation
Brothers and sisters,
Before we ever came to this earth, we were spirits with our Heavenly Parents. In that premortal council, we were shown a plan — a plan that included agency, and with it, the power to grow or to fall.
“Wherefore, the Lord God gave unto man that he should act for himself.” – 2 Nephi 2:16
Agency is the ability to choose.
Accountability is the opportunity to become.
We are not here just to make choices — we are here to own them, to grow from them, and to be refined by them. Accountability is not condemnation. It is correction. It is an invitation to course-correct and draw closer to Christ.
And Christ is not surprised by our choices — He is ready to help us use even the messy ones for our good.
Let us be accountable not out of fear, but out of honor — because God trusted us enough to let us choose.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
🗣️ Final Speaker: Accountability Is a Gift, Not a Burden
Brothers and sisters,
As we’ve heard, agency is sacred. But without accountability, agency would be wasted.
At first, accountability can feel like a burden. But in Christ’s gospel, it’s a gift. It is the door to peace.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
That rest comes not from escaping our choices, but from owning them with hope.
If you’ve made choices you regret — don’t hide. Bring your heart — bruised, imperfect, and real — to Christ. He already bore the burden. He just asks you to walk with Him now.
You’re not too late. You’re not too far. Accountability means you’re still in charge of who you become.
Let’s not run from responsibility — let’s run toward it.
In the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.
