🌿 SUNDAY TALK – “MY ZION SURROUNDS ME WHOLE”
🕊️ Opening
Brothers and Sisters,
Today I want to speak about something simple… but not easy.
Home.
Zion.
And how we stand when life doesn’t feel peaceful.
Because many of us know what it feels like to want rest…
and instead feel like we are constantly being called to stand.
🏡 HOME VS. ETERNAL HOME
Home is where we sleep at night.
Where we lay our bodies down and expect to feel safe.
It is where we gather our family.
Where we try to create peace.
But there is another kind of home.
Eternal home.
That is where we lay our spirit down.
Where we are not in conflict…
where we are not defending…
where we are simply at rest with God.
And sometimes, if we are honest…
those two don’t feel the same.
🌿 WHEN HOME DOESN’T FEEL PEACEFUL
There are times when:
- Boundaries are tested
- Respect is not given
- Truth is challenged
- And we feel like we are constantly having to stand
And in those moments, we can ask:
👉 Why can’t people just do what is right?
👉 Why am I the one carrying this?
And that’s where something important comes in.
⚖️ THE ENTITLEMENT TRAP
There is a difference between gratitude and entitlement.
Entitlement says:
- “I deserve this.”
- “This should be mine.”
- “I don’t have to acknowledge what’s been given.”
Gratitude says:
- “I see what I’ve been given.”
- “I honor the effort behind it.”
- “I take responsibility for my part.”
And when someone is living in entitlement…
they often don’t see a reason to change.
Which leads to something difficult:
👉 You cannot force someone to see what they refuse to see.
🔥 FORGIVENESS WITHOUT AGREEMENT
Sometimes we think:
“If they don’t see it… I can’t forgive them.”
But forgiveness is not agreement.
And it is not approval.
Forgiveness is:
👉 Choosing not to carry what someone else refuses to acknowledge.
It frees you.
Not them.
And that matters—because if we don’t release it,
we carry it into everything:
- our home
- our relationships
- even our spirit
👨👩👧👦 HONORING MOTHER AND FATHER
We are taught to honor our Mother and Father.
Not because they are perfect.
But because honoring them shapes us.
When we choose to honor:
- we learn discipline
- we learn gratitude
- we learn order
And that is exactly how our Savior lived.
Jesus Christ honored His Father in all things.
He did not act out of entitlement.
He acted out of alignment.
He showed us that:
👉 To stand in truth, you don’t have to become loud…
👉 You have to become steady.
🌅 WHAT IT MEANS TO STAND
There is a difference between:
- fighting everything
and - standing correctly
Standing means:
- Knowing your boundaries
- Holding them without chaos
- Living in a way that reflects truth
It does not mean:
- reacting to everything
- proving yourself
- or becoming what you are facing
Because the moment we lose that…
we lose our peace.
✨ MY ZION SURROUNDS ME WHOLE
And this is the message I want to leave with you:
My Zion surrounds me whole.
Zion is not just a place.
It is:
- how we live
- how we love
- how we stand before God
It is not shaken by:
- disrespect
- entitlement
- or conflict
Because Zion is not built on what others do.
👉 It is built on who we choose to be.
🕊️ A MOTHER’S HEART
As a Mother, I will say this clearly:
I do not want to be called into constant battle.
I want rest.
But I will always stand with my children.
With my love.
That is not contradiction.
That is covenant.
🌿 THE INVITATION
So today, I invite each of us to ask:
- Where am I holding onto what I need to release?
- Where can I replace entitlement with gratitude?
- Where can I stand more steadily instead of reacting?
And most importantly:
👉 Am I building Zion within me?
🔥 CLOSING DECLARATION
My home is where I lay my body.
My Eternal home is where I lay my spirit.I will stand in truth.
I will live with gratitude.
I will hold my boundaries with peace. And no matter what surrounds me—
My Zion surrounds me whole.
🕊️ Closing
I say these things with love,
and in the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
