HORSESHOE BEND
From the Creeker Family Scrapbook
When Jay was a baby, I was walking through the sand at Horseshoe Bend.
As I walked forward, I kept noticing these little puppy-paw prints in the sand. Then I’d walk back to check on my son, look down again, and there they were.
Puppy paws.
I kept thinking somebody else must have been there. Maybe a little kid. Maybe somebody with a little dog. I was looking at the tracks and trying to figure out who I was following.
Then I finally figured it out.
It was me.
Apparently, the shoes I was wearing had a little puppy-paw imprint in the soles. Every step I took was leaving those tiny paw prints behind me.
All that time I thought I was seeing evidence of somebody else—
I was following me and my shadow.
WATCH YOUR STEP.
Sometimes the tracks you’re trying to figure out are your own.
… another great story of the day includes an Indian, his art and a treasure hunt at the Dam parking lot up stream.
