Week One • Day Two Of Creeker-Cation
The birds are singing.
The sun is shining.
The traffic is already flowing through the valley like rivers of people chasing another Monday morning.
But before the sunlight fully settled over the desert…
the rain came.
Just a short rain.
Around 5:30 to 5:40 in the morning.
Enough to cool the dust.
Enough to quiet the air.
Enough to remind some of us that heaven still speaks softly.
And here in the CREEKERhood…
many are still sleeping in.
The classrooms are quieter.
The backpacks are resting by the wall.
The alarms are finally silenced for a moment.
And yet…
the predators are still awake.
Some walk in suits.
Some walk in uniforms.
Some walk in silence.
Some walk pretending not to watch at all.
One walked by this morning just as the rain moved through.
And for those who pay attention to rhythm, timing, and the feeling of creation itself…
sometimes rain does not feel random.
Sometimes it feels like protection.
Like the whisper of:
“I’ve got your back, lady.”
Not every early riser is dangerous.
Some are workers.
Some are parents.
Some are protectors.
Some are simply carrying burdens nobody else sees.
But discernment matters.
A Creeker learns the difference between:
- movement and purpose,
- noise and warning,
- confidence and arrogance,
- freedom and carelessness.
This first week of Creeker-Cation is not only about resting.
It is about resetting.
Resetting our homes.
Resetting our minds.
Resetting our schedules.
Resetting our integrity.
And while the world rushes forward at highway speed, some of us are sitting quietly listening to:
- the wind,
- the birds,
- the rain on the desert ground,
- the dogs bark in the distance,
- the hum of traffic,
- and the whisper reminding us:
pay attention.
Because awareness is not fear.
Awareness is stewardship.
So good morning, Creekers.
Drink your water.
Watch your surroundings.
Help your neighbors when appropriate.
Protect your peace.
And remember:
Even during vacation…
