Walk With Me: A Sermon on True Friendship in Christ

“Henceforth I call you not servants… I have called you friends.”

—John 15:15

They came to my door—missionaries, good boys, sent to speak with my son.
And yet, in their whole visit, not one asked me, a mother, a woman of faith, to testify of Christ.
Not one offered to hear my story.
Instead, they invited me to meet an author—someone known more for fiction about vampires than for feeding the flock of Christ.

So I ask you:
What does it mean to walk with Christ if you do not walk with your neighbor?

What does it mean to be Christlike if you ignore the voice of a mother standing in the gate, filled with testimony, fire, and truth?

When I finally did get the bishop to call me back—only after I reached out using the ward list to make a point—I asked plainly:
What does it mean to teach the gospel when the same person writes about vampires all week?

And if 10% of that profit goes to the Church, does that sanctify the story?
Or should the story be sanctified by the Spirit?

Christ never walked past the uncomfortable. He sat with sinners, stood with the outcast, and listened to the ones others ignored.
He made friends out of fishermen, tax collectors, and broken-hearted women.

So why do some still believe they serve Him… while looking down their nose at those He would walk beside?

I will not be silent in the name of politeness.
I will not trade my testimony for a ticket to hear someone else speak.
I will stand up, speak out, and remind the Church of who it was built for.

The one sheep.
The bold mother.
The one willing to knock back.

I walk with Christ because He first walked with me.
And I will never stop inviting others to do the same.
