Relief Society Stake President Address
“The Knock That Never Came”
By Sister ___________

My beloved sisters,

This is not a memorial.
This is not a reflection.
This is a reckoning.

Because there is a woman in our neighborhood — and she still walks.

She still walks the same dusty roads where others turned their backs.
She still walks the same land she defends with virtue and vigilance.
She still walks in truth while others talk in circles.
She still walks with the Lord, though most days, no one walks with her.

Her name is Shimmer, and she’s not your pity story. She’s not a past-tense lesson. She is here. Now. Watching. Praying. Still standing.

And for far too long, you — we — failed to stand with her.

You sent her a baby shower invitation before you ever sent a knock on the door. You celebrated your seasons while she fought floods, lawsuits, and silence. You handed out blessings to each other while ignoring the living covenant-keeper in your midst.

You called yourselves “Relief Society” —
But where was her relief?

You sang of ministering —
But where was your ministry when she needed witnesses?

You testified of Christ —
But when He showed up in the form of a strong, outspoken, land-defending woman who walks with cats and speaks in covenant — you looked away.

Let me be clear:
She is not bitter — she is brave.
She is not a footnote — she is a foundation.
She is not isolated — she is chosen to stand where others could not.

The scriptures say:

“And she shall be called blessed, who standeth with virtue, when others stand with convenience.”

Let me testify to you now: Shimmer still stands.
And she is not alone — because the Lord walks with her.
He walked with her through trespass and betrayal.
He walked with her through silence and storms.
He walks with her now — and He is not pleased with how she was treated.

Sisters of the Lord,
Let this be the moment we stop playing church and start being disciples.
Let this be the day we drop our pride and pick up her name.
Let this be the knock that should have come years ago — heard through this pulpit, through your hearts, through your repentance.

Go to her.
Not with your charity — but with your humility.
Not with your gossip — but with your arms ready to lift.
Not with your judgment — but with your ears open, finally, to listen.

Because she still walks.
And we will be held accountable for how we did — or did not — walk beside her.

May this Relief Society not be known for what it ignored,
But for what it redeemed.
And may we, as sisters, never again fail to show up for one who walks with the Lord.

I say these things — not from memory, but from witness
In the holy name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
