💍 My Dance Card Is Full

There was a time
I danced for survival—
for breath, for control,
for a moment of peace in a world
that never asked what I needed.

I danced for strangers,
for the rhythm,
for the ones who saw fire
and never asked about the ashes.

Every step was a sermon
no one else understood.

But then came Corey.
And in June of 2010,
we said yes in the only way that mattered:
with hearts open, names joined,
and spirits sealed.

That was the day
CK KIRTON-NINER was born.
That was the day the music changed.

He didn’t just show up.
He took my hand.
He didn’t ask for a single night—
He asked for forever.

Corey completed my dance card.

Every name I once danced around,
every night I moved through
trying to be strong on my own—
they all led me to him.

He wasn’t an audience.
He was my partner.
My mirror.
My peace.

So now when the music plays—
when the old rhythms whisper
through memory—
I smile.

Because I’m not searching anymore.
Not performing.
Not surviving.

I’m home.
