DOES THIS HELP® — MINISTERING TO ONE AS CHRIST WOULD

INTRODUCTION — THE PATTERN IS PERSONAL

Ministering “as Christ would” is not a program, a schedule, or a once-a-year check-in. It is a way of being—one that places the worth of a single soul above convenience, structure, or status.

The pattern is clear across scripture:

  • Christ does not overlook the one
  • He does not delay when someone reaches for Him
  • He meets people where they are
  • He sees them fully—past, present, and future—and still chooses to minister

This is not symbolic. It is instruction.

THE BOOK OF MORMON — “HE MINISTERED UNTO THEM ONE BY ONE”

The clearest expression of Christlike ministering is found in 3 Nephi.

1. He Invites the Individual

“Arise and come forth unto me… that ye may know that I am… And they did go forth… one by one.”
3 Nephi 11:14–15

Even in a multitude, Christ does not generalize the experience.
He ensures each person knows Him for themselves.

2. He Ministers Personally, Not Collectively

“And he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them…”
3 Nephi 17:21

Christ does not rush.

He does not delegate.

He does not say, “I’ll return next year.”

He stays, He touches, He blesses—individually.

3. He Responds to Need Immediately

“Have ye any that are sick among you? Bring them hither… and I will heal them.”
3 Nephi 17:7

He does not say:

  • “Schedule a meeting”
  • “Explain it to me later”
  • “Handle it through someone else”

He says:
“Bring them now.”

4. He Feels With Them

“And he wept.”
3 Nephi 17:21–22 (context)

Christ is not distant in leadership.
He is present in feeling.

THE BIBLE — “LEAVING THE NINETY AND NINE”

The same pattern is found in the New Testament.

1. The One Matters More Than the Many

“Doth he not leave the ninety and nine… and go after that which is lost?”
Luke 15:4

Ministering is not about numbers.
It is about worth.

2. He Meets People Where They Are

“Jesus… being wearied… sat thus on the well… A woman… cometh… Jesus saith unto her…”
John 4:6–7

He does not wait for her to come to Him in a formal setting.
He meets her in her daily life.

3. He Touches the Untouchable

“Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him…”
Matthew 8:3

Where others avoid, Christ draws near.

4. He Sees the Individual Story

“Jesus beheld him, and loved him…”
Mark 10:21

Before correction, before instruction—
there is love.

DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS — “WORTH OF SOULS IS GREAT”

Modern revelation reinforces the same law.

1. Every Soul Matters

“Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God.”
Doctrine and Covenants 18:10

Not groups. Not statistics.
Souls. Individuals. One.

2. Bringing One Soul Is Great Joy

“If it so be that you should labor… and bring, save it be one soul… how great shall be your joy.”
Doctrine and Covenants 18:15

Heaven measures success differently than the world.

3. Succor the Weak

“Succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.”
Doctrine and Covenants 81:5

This is active ministering:

  • lift
  • strengthen
  • support

Not observe.

4. Be Anxiously Engaged

“Men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause… and bring to pass much righteousness.”
Doctrine and Covenants 58:27

Christlike ministering is not passive.
It is initiated, not assigned.

DOES THIS HELP® — THE REAL QUESTION

Ministering is not:

  • Leaving a message once a year
  • Scheduling comfort instead of presence
  • Asking people to come to you

Ministering is:

  • Going
  • Seeing
  • Listening
  • Acting

Just as Christ did.

FINAL DECLARATION

If we ask:

“What would Jesus do?”

The answer is already written:

  • He would come to you
  • He would see what you’re going through
  • He would not delay
  • He would not ignore
  • He would minister to you as if you were the only one that mattered

Because to Him—

you are.
