Good Morning Y’ALL.

Today I would like to speak about a principle I have spent much of my life observing. Some call it karma. Some call it cause and effect. Some call it agency and consequence. Whatever words we choose, the Principle remains the same:

Our choices matter.

Every action creates a reaction.

Every choice creates a consequence.

Every seed produces fruit after its own kind.

I worship God our Eternal Father.

I seek to become more like Jesus Christ, my Eternal Brother, Savior, and Redeemer.

I rely upon the companionship of the Holy Ghost for guidance, understanding, comfort, and truth.

When I speak of karma, I am not speaking of a mysterious force. I am speaking of cause and effect. I am speaking of eternal laws established by God our Eternal Father.

Throughout all generations, God has taught His children that their choices matter. Through prophets, scripture, revelation, and through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, we have been shown a pattern for living.

Jesus Christ teaches:

“Love one another.”

“Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you.”

“Forgive.”

“Serve.”

“Judge righteous judgment.”

These teachings are not merely spiritual ideas. They are practical principles that affect every relationship, every home, every community, and every nation.

Part 1 – God’s Plan Is Built Upon Agency and Consequence

One of the greatest gifts God gave His children is Agency.

Agency means our choices matter.

Agency means we are free to choose.

Agency also means we are accountable for what we choose.

Too often people want freedom without responsibility.

Yet God’s plan has always included both.

A farmer understands this principle.

The harvest reflects the seed.

Plant wheat and wheat grows.

Plant weeds and weeds grow.

Ignore the field and nature chooses for you.

The same principle applies to our lives.

Truth produces trust.

Service produces relationships.

Work produces opportunity.

Kindness produces friendship.

Dishonesty produces distrust.

Neglect produces decline.

This is not punishment.

This is cause and effect.

The Book of Mormon repeatedly teaches that prosperity follows righteousness—not because God is handing out prizes, but because righteous principles create stronger individuals, stronger families, and stronger communities.

The outcomes often reflect the choices.

Part 2 – Jesus Christ Taught the Pattern for Prosperity

The Lord, my Savior teaches a Principle so simple that a child can understand it.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Imagine if every person truly lived this Principle.

Imagine neighborhoods where people looked after one another.

Imagine families where every member contributed.

Imagine communities where people solved problems together instead of creating new ones.

Imagine businesses focused on serving rather than exploiting.

Imagine governments focused on stewardship rather than control.

Jesus Christ shows us what Leadership looks like.

He SERVES.

He TEACHES.

He HEALS.

He LIFTS.

He INVITES.

He CORRECTS when necessary.

He LOVES.

He DOES NOT force.

He PERSUADES.

Again, JESUS CHRIST TEACHES truth and allows Agency.

When we choose the right to more like Him, our relationships improve.

Our homes improve.

Our communities improve.

This is cause and effect.

Part 3 – Families, Households, and Communities

I have spent much of my life observing households.

A successful household is rarely built by one person.

A family thrives when everyone participates.

Parents teach.

Children learn.

Eventually children become contributors.

Every member has value.

Every member has responsibility.

The same is true in communities.

Strong communities are built by individuals who choose to contribute.

When people ask:

“What can I do to help?”

communities prosper.

When people ask only:

“What can I get?”

communities struggle.

God’s plan was never about spectators.

It was always about participation.

The world changes when people stop waiting for someone else to solve the problem and begin helping solve it themselves.

Every act of SERVICE creates a ripple.

Every act of TRUTH creates trust.

Every act of KINDNESS strengthens the community.

This is cause and effect in action.

Part 4 – Eternal Relationships and the Holy Ghost

There is another aspect of cause and effect that is deeply personal to me.

I believe relationships matter beyond mortality.

I think of my Father.

I think of my Sister Kollette.

I think of my Grandparents and Ancestors.

I think of the LESSONS they taught me.

I think of the SACRIFICES they made.

I think of the EXAMPLES they choose to be.

Through the companionship of the Holy Ghost, I often feel reminded of truths I learned from them.

Their influence remains.

Their love remains.

Their examples continue to shape my choices.

One generation plants.

Another generation harvests.

Then they plant again.

That is cause and effect across Generations.

Those we love do not simply disappear from our story.

Their influence continues through memory, example, service, and love.

As the saying goes:

“Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day.”

Part 5 – Truth as a Service to God

One of the greatest services we can provide one another is truth.

Truth allows trust.

Truth allows accountability.

Truth allows growth.

Without truth there can be no informed agency.

God our Eternal Father is a God of truth.

Jesus Christ taught truth.

The Holy Ghost testifies of truth.

Truth is not always comfortable.

Truth often requires humility.

Truth sometimes asks us to change.

Yet truth remains one of the greatest gifts we can offer one another.

A community built upon truth prospers.

A family built upon truth prospers.

A nation built upon truth prospers.

Truth is an act of service.

Conclusion

As I look at the world today, I believe many of our greatest challenges come from forgetting simple Principles.

Love one another.

Serve one another.

Tell the truth.

Honor agency.

Accept accountability.

Contribute where you can.

These Principles are not complicated.

Yet they have the power to transform homes, communities, and nations.

I testify that God our Eternal Father lives.

I testify that Jesus Christ is our Savior, Redeemer, and Eternal Brother.

I testify that the Holy Ghost can guide us toward truth.

I testify that our choices matter.

Every action creates a reaction.

Every seed produces fruit after its own kind.

May we plant seeds of truth.

May we plant seeds of service.

May we plant seeds of love.

And may future generations inherit a harvest better than the one we received.
