“I think I can” is the beginning of faith.
“I know I can” comes through experience.
“You can too” is teaching.
A child believes they can tie their shoes.
Then they practice.
Then they know.
A teenager believes they can drive.
Then they practice.
Then they know.
A parent believes they can raise a family.
Then they spend years doing it.
Then they know.
A steward believes they can care for what God has entrusted to them.
Then they practice daily.
Then they know.
Faith is often the beginning.
Experience is the proving ground.
Knowledge is what remains after experience.
That is why you cannot teach what you do not know.
And that is why the greatest teachers are often those who have lived what they teach.
The Little Engine did not become successful because it already knew it could climb the mountain.
It became successful because it believed, acted, persisted, and learned through experience.
The American spirit has often been the same.
Families are built one day at a time.
Homes are built one project at a time.
Character is built one choice at a time.
Legacy is built one generation at a time.
God does not simply give us all knowledge at once.
He gives us opportunities to learn.
He gives us opportunities to practice.
He gives us opportunities to grow.
And through those experiences our beliefs become knowledge, our knowledge becomes wisdom, and our wisdom becomes something worth teaching.
When our skills complement one another, we become stronger together than we could ever become alone.
I may know something you do not know.
You may know something I do not know.
Corey knows things I do not know.
I know things Corey does not know.
My children know things I do not know.
I know things they do not know.
The purpose is not competition.
The purpose is contribution.
The purpose is stewardship.
The purpose is growth.
The purpose is becoming capable enough to help ourselves and then capable enough to help others.
That is self-service.
That is stewardship.
That is family.
That is legacy.
That is truth.
