Technology is more than computers, phones, or websites. Technology is every tool we create to help us communicate, solve problems, preserve knowledge, and improve the way we live. From a pencil to a supercomputer, every invention begins with one simple question:

Does this help?

That question is at the heart of this course.

Who

Technology belongs to everyone. It is not reserved for programmers, engineers, or large corporations. Every person who creates, shares, teaches, builds, or solves a problem is a technologist in action. Whether you are a student, parent, teacher, artist, entrepreneur, or retiree, you already use technology every day. The goal is not simply to use it—but to understand it.

What

Technology is the practical application of knowledge into action. It includes hardware, software, networks, websites, databases, artificial intelligence, and the countless systems working together behind the scenes. More importantly, technology is communication. Every click, every file, every webpage, and every message tells a story.

When

Technology is happening all the time.

Every email sent.
Every photograph taken.
Every website visited.
Every online purchase.
Every digital conversation.

The question is whether we are simply reacting to technology or learning to direct it with purpose.

Why

Does This Help?

Every decision in technology should answer this one question:

Does this help the person using it?

As designers, developers, teachers, and users, our responsibility is to build systems that are useful, understandable, and respectful of the people they serve.
